A Self-Care Gift Guide For Mother's Day

Mother’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. It’s not only because I’m a mom. It’s nice to see mama love being spread around. It’s also a universal day where the idea of pampering mothers is embraced. Self-care is encouraged! In addition to loving on my fam and the special moms in my life, I recently started treating myself to a lil’ somethin’, somethin’ on Mother’s Day. Whether it’s a new plant, candle, or even a massage, recognition of a job well done is an important component of wellness.

In that spirit, here’s a fun, curated list of self-care gifts to consider for yourself or that special Mom in your life on Mother’s Day. I’ve rounded up quick grabs, one of a kind finds, and dream gift ideas. I hope that you’ll share this list and spread love!

QUICK GRABS

NEED TO REST YOUR FEET?

I love these cozy slippers & live in them.

Love these…

WANT A REMINDER OF HOW INCREDIBLE YOU ARE?

Look at this calming affirmation deck of 40 positive and inspirational cards for women. It includes powerful mantra statements like “I am as resilient as the sun. I will always rise again,” and “My authentic self is my most powerful state.” The Renegade Mama’s Women’s Empowering Deck is a colorful option. Their Postpartum Affirmation Deck  is also a great gift for new moms.

NEED A MASSAGE?

This TheraGun massager is THE TRUTH. Used by athletes, it’s very powerful, so keep it away from the kids. The hand-held device unleashes knots and soothes sore muscles, like a professional massage therapist. It’s pricey, but well worth it if you have tight muscles or workout frequently, like I do. If you’re looking for a more economical option, check out this shoulder and neck heating pad, which may help if you spend a lot of time at your computer.

WANT SOME PAMPERING?

Enjoy a mini-escape with these beauty products:

-FaceTory Facial Mask Collection: 7 different facial sheet masks designed to hydrate and soothe your skin. They also offer anti-aging sheet masks with jojoba oil. These fab K-Beauty products are gluten, phthalates and cruelty-free.

-Jade Roller & Gua Sha Rose Quartz Massager: Get your face roll on! This roller and massage gift set helps to reduce bags and puffy eyes, while relaxing your facial muscles.

-Mario Badescu Facial Spray Set: Feel fresh and reinvigorated with this spray set. One spritzer is made with cucumber and green tea, the other is filled with herbs and rosewater. Use it as a hydrating refresher, or to set makeup.

-Bombelalala Bath Bombs: I dig the name of these cutie pie, super-sized bath bombs. I also like that they are made with clean ingredients and essential oils. Produced by an all-female crew, this tuxedo styled gift box includes moisturizing bath bombs with names like: “Oceans 11,” reminiscent of the sun and sea, “The Big Easy,” a  lavender scent, and “Drama Queen” with plum, champagne, and grapefruit.

DREAM GIFT IDEAS:

Let’s keep it real, in a perfect world, here’s what busy moms REALLY WANT in the self-care department for Mother’s Day. Here’s a few options if your budget or COVID has put your dream gifts on pause:

DREAM: A full-time maid!

REALITY: Gift mom with a one-time housekeeper, or a few monthly visits.

DREAM: A day at the spa with all of the treatments!

REALITY: Gift mom with 1 hour-long professional massage treatment, or DIY.

DREAM: A meditative retreat!

REALITY: Download the Chopra app, full of daily meditations. There’s a free and paid version.

DREAM: An international vacation!

REALITY: Treat mom to a solo day or weekend in a hotel. Many local hotels are still rebounding and are offering low rates. Let her sleep late and order room service! You could also create a mock hotel room at home. Serve mom a meal in bed. Close the door and allow her to relax, uninterrupted for a few hours.

DREAM: A personal chef!

REALITY: Help mom with dinner by ordering a pre-made meal delivery service for a few days or a week. We recently tried Daily Harvest. Their vegan meals are tasty and great for breakfast or lunch if you enjoy smoothies, soups or harvest bowls. It saved me tons of time and energy in the kitchen. I also heard that Freshly, Purple Carrot and Territory Foods are also solid clean eats.
